The Company
Germains Seed Technology (part of the Associated British Foods parent group) provides a full range of seed enhancement technologies for sugar beet and also for over 100 varieties of horticultural crops (predominantly lettuce and salad crops). The work undertaken on their King's Lynn site consists of the various stages of processing sugar beet seeds in order to enhance their natural potential.
The Challenge
Germains contacted Green Business Light seeking an energy efficient lighting solution to replace the outdated fluorescent tube lights which were being used in the works area of their 30000 square foot King's Lynn site. A consultation with the site project team Green Business Light established that the main requirements were as follows:
- Significantly enhance the lighting levels on the site (to "best practice" lux levels)
- Produce a high quality white light for onsite workers
- Reduce the necessity for lamp replacement
- Reduce the business carbon footprint and energy expense

Feedback on the Green Business Light Service
"The service from Green Business Light was excellent - being able to get a free trial of different lighting technologies and see the lighting for ourselves really made a difference to our project. The lighting we have now actually appears much brighter for the level of lux that is being measured." Tom Greenacre, Engineering & Maintenance Manager, Germains Seed Technology.
