The Company
Tio Ltd is a grower, processor and packer of organic root vegetables. The company is the largest UK grower of organic carrots and supplies customers with organic carrots for 12 months of the year. The company also grows other organic produce such as swede, parsnips, potatoes and cereals/pulses. Tio Ltd is the exclusive supplier of own label organic root vegetables to Tesco on a UK basis. The company also supplies other retailers, wholesalers and trade customers in the UK.
The Challenge
Tio contacted Green Business Light seeking an energy efficient lighting solution to replace including several HID lights located in the chilled storage/packing area of their 3000 square metre site in Forres, Invernesshire. The main requirements of the project were to:
- Reduce the business carbon footprint and energy expenditure
- Reduce the refrigeration load in the chilled areas
- Qualify for an interest-free loan from the Carbon Trust
- Reduce the necessary frequency of lamp replacement
